Step-by-Step Wiring Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Tools

  • • Wire strippers
  • • Screwdriver set
  • • Voltage tester
  • • Wire nuts

Step 2: Turn Off Power

Locate the circuit breaker for the circuit you'll be working on and turn it OFF. Use a voltage tester to confirm power is off.

Step 3: Identify Wire Types

Hot Wire (Black)

Carries current to switch

Neutral Wire (White)

Returns current to panel

Ground Wire (Green)

Safety ground connection

Step 4: Make Connections

For SPST Toggle Switch:

  1. Connect incoming hot wire (black) to one terminal
  2. Connect outgoing hot wire (black) to other terminal
  3. Connect neutral wires (white) together with wire nut
  4. Connect ground wires (green/bare) together and to switch ground screw

Step 5: Test Installation

Turn power back on at circuit breaker and test switch operation. Ensure the connected device turns on/off properly.
